Introduction

The Japan Maritime Center (JMC) was established in April 2007 with the merger of the Japan Maritime Foundation (established in 1964) and the Japan Maritime Development Association (established in 1964).
JMC was reauthorized as an important public-interest entity by the government in April 2011.
JMC’s activities are financially supported by the Japanese Shipowners’ Association and the Japan Federation of Pilots’ Associations.
We wish to contribute to further advancement of maritime community and development of Japan.

Objectives

  • To contribute to the development of maritime industries, which are critical to the Japanese economy and society.
  • To contribute to advancement of safety and security.
  • To contribute to sustainable development of the maritime community in harmony with the global environment.
  • To contribute to international maritime activities of Japan.
  • To promote public-interest as a central institute in the maritime community.
  • To contribute to maritime industries, governmental organizations and academic institutions through its collaboration as a key think tank.
