Our Senior Researcher visited the Swedish Shipowners’
Association Senior Researcher Mr. Nomura from our center visited the Swedish Shipowners' Association in Stockholm, Sweden on September 11, 2025, and met with Senior Policy Advisor Mr. Silva and Shipping Policy Expert Ms. Linder.
In Sweden, 10 years will have passed since the introduction of the tonnage tax system in 2017, there is growing momentum for a review of the system. Ms. Linder explained the Association's policy towards this. Based on Mr. Nomura's explanation of the situation regarding the Japanese tonnage tax system and other relevant measures for shipping industry, the three exchanged opinions and agreed to continue exchanging views in the future to promote the development of the shipping industry in both countries.
